Welcome! We praise God that we are able to bring you a small taste of what it is like to serve Him in Uganda among the Karamojong, the Teso and the Sabiny people.
This is the Webpage of Waffle and Dr. Val! We are excited to share with you our ministries and our very lives. God is doing some amazing things in our communities as well as in our hearts and we are happy to let you enter in and experience some of what His Spirit is doing out here in Uganda. We rely on God out here, so please, if you are a praying person, please PRAY for us!
We serve the people of Uganda together with a local NGO, CLIDE Consultancy. This is a wholistic, integrated, Christian, not-for-profit organisation based in eastern Uganda. We love our team and greatly value the way that the Lord has brought so many members together with unique skills and experienes in order to have such a varied, wholistic ministry.
Our team is an energetic, cross-cultural team, composed of professionals from many walks of life, including veterinary doctors, an organic agriculturalist, an ethno-veterinary specialist, a teacher, several community development facilitators, a spiritual coordinator, as well as our administrative staff. We enjoy seeing God work through us to bring a hope and a future to the people we work with.
We work primarily in the Karamoja and Teso regions in Eastern Uganda. These tribes care for livestock and also plant crops to sustain their families. We hope to be working more with the Sabiny (aka Sebei people) in the future as well. They are farmers with some cattle and goats, living on the lush Mt. Elgon, also in Eastern Uganda.
Karamoja is our primary operational area, and you can see it delineated in the upper NE corner of this Uganda map. We do alot of livestock minitires here, as well as evangelism and discipleship, child sponsorships, agriculture and peace work.
Teso region is to the southwest of Karamoja. We do child sponsorships here as well as HIV/AIDS work.
In Sebei, we are just beginning child sponsorships. We occasionally do livestock programs and work with the local churches there.
As a veterinary doctor, Dr. Val loves interacting with the pastoralist communities, teaching them to care for their animals and shepherd their sheep in the way that the Good Shepherd desires to care for them. They have many herbal veterinary medicines as well, which are proving to be very valuable. Waffle's heart has bonded with the local communities and loves to develop spiritually impactful relationships, where he and his new friends can encourage each other and grow closer to God together. Our biggest joy is to see them praising God and growing in their faith and walk! We love to see God at Work!
We have lots of ministries that we are doing together with CLIDE, so we welcome you to explore how God is using these to transform and edify the people of Uganda and draw people to Christ. The current, growing emphasis that we are concentrating on is the development of the discipleship ministries of CLIDE. There are many, many new believers in our communities now, who do not read or write, and we long for them to know the depth of love and power of God in thier lives. Our church partners have been very active in coming alongside us and serving with us in these various ministries. You are also welcome to join us for a short term ministry, if you feel God's leading!
We work with the local African partners, especially the Church of Uganda in Karamoja, and empower them to serve the Lord strategically. To learn more about a specific project, see below:

Waffle has also been helping with construction at our CLIDE office in Moroto, as well as with school buildings and churches in the Peace Villages and in Kangole. The local communities and local believers are partnering with us on these churches as well as on construction of a pastor's house and other buildings. We have had some amazing help through short term missionary visitors who contribute their expertise and their brawn to the construction ministries.
We always need prayer, as life in the area where we live (Karamoja) can be very challenging at times. Here is a link where you can see our current and past prayer requests, and see how God has been answering our prayers. You can also see our current Newsletters for Prayer and Info here. For previous prayer letters see the Val and Waffle's story page.
